Tattoo aftercare

Tattoo aftercare is a vital part of making sure your tattoo heals properly! Your tattoo artist will usually explain how to look after your new tattoo after your appointment, here are the basics:
Days 1/2 Remove your film as instructed by your tattoo artist  (cling film usually 2hours after your tattoo and with second skin 1/2 days after your tattoo) use an unscented antibacterial soap to wash your tattoo with warm water, you can do this in the shower and then pat your tattoo dry gently with a clean paper towel. Apply a thin layer of non scented or perfumed moisturiser. Clean and moisturise your tattoo 2/3 times a day for approx two weeks. Do not submerge your tattoo in any form of water until it is healed (avoid direct sunlight, the sea, saunas, pools, baths and vigorous exercise)

Days 5/6 Your tattoo may have started forming a scab now, try not to pick any scabs off, instead apply a thin layer of moisturiser 2/3 times a day and try to avoid tight clothing on your tattoo,

Week 2 Your tattoo might be itchy, the surface of your tattoo should be healed now (this can vary depending on the individual) but you can continue moisturising, apply a dry cold compress or gently pat your tattoo instead of itching it.

Healed tattoos When your tattoo is fully healed you still should look after it; Apply sunscreen to your tattoo to keep it looking fresh and to avoid any sun damage.
